“God was with me even when I wasn’t with Him.”
As a teenager Alice wanted to become a teacher. “Unfortunately I met a guy and spent five years in an abusive relationship. We had two daughters. To escape the abuse, my children and I moved to South Central Los Angeles. When the girls were nine and seven, I sent them back to live with my father and stepmother because I could not provide adequate care for them. I also lived in a dangerous area. I attended church regularly, and even asked Christ to be my Lord and Savior while living in California. Still, I think back to how God was with me but I wasn’t with Him, and how God spared my life so many times while I lived there.
My mother died in July 2001. I came home for the funeral and never returned.”
