Pains Births Purpose

During the eight years that followed, Alice worked and shared her mother’s home with other family members. But in March of 2008, she decided it would be best for her to move out. Shortly after that, she was laid off from her job. “After the unemployment ran out, I had to move again. My two daughters wanted me to come live with them, but the Holy Spirit wouldn’t let me. I found some papers with the name “Haven of Rest” on them. I came here on July 2, 2009.”
The day that Alice walked through the doors of Haven of Rest, she could feel God’s presence. “Haven is the place where God put me so that I could get closer to Him; to know more about Him, to walk with Him. I’ve become stronger. I know that God has special plans for me. Here in this safe environment I am able to look at my past so that I might heal and recover from my wounds and pains. God brought me here to give me sight; He brought me here to fulfill my purpose in life, which is to help those who are lost like I was. He has given me the strength and confidence to go back to school at The University of Akron at 54 years old. I want to teach sign language. I want to empower others. My favorite passage is Psalm 145:14, “The Lord upholds all those who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down.”
My daughters didn’t want me to come here, but I had to. They are so proud of me now. They tell me, “Now we know why you had to go to Haven of Rest.”
