Run 4 Life
On Saturday, May 9, Hudson Community Chapel held it’s 9th Annual Run 4 Life event. Even though the weather was cold, rainy and very windy, 50 runners and walkers participated in the one-mile kid’s race, and 150 runners in the four-mile course.
Race day began at 9 am with the 1-mile kid’s race which provided a chance for younger runners to be involved and for mothers to walk with their children. The 4-mile run took place with runners completing a course through the neighborhoods around Hudson Community Chapel.
Run 4 Life provides fun, education and exercise for those who participate while benefiting the homeless women and children staying at Harvest Home. The work and time that is spent organizing the Run 4 Life are tremendous and very much appreciated. We here at Haven of Rest are so thankful for this expression of love and concern for those in need by all who participated in the race.
We would like to thank all of you who helped to make Chick-fil-A’s “Help the hungry Save a Cow” food drive to benefit Haven of Rest a success.
Five area Chick-fil-A’s participated and were able to raise more that 4,000 pounds of food for the mission. The Chapel Hill location collected the most food with a total of 1,524 pounds.
We are very grateful for the generosity of everyone that participated. This food will go a long way in providing the food that we need to prepare the 600 meals that we serve on an average each day. Thank you so much!

Haven of Rest Nights at Canal Park
You still have time! The Akron Aeros, AA affiliate of the Cleveland Indians, have to of their five home games left in their 2010 season to benefit Haven of Rest Ministries. Tickets ordered through Haven of Rest are $6.00 for Sat., July 17; and Thur., August 26. Three dollars of each ticket purchased will go to help the ministry care for people who are needy and homeless.
All ticket orders must be received two weeks prior to game date.. To place your order, call Katrina Henry at 330-535-1563 or email her at khenry@havenofrest.org.

Haven of Rest 21st Annual Community Picnic
Just the smell of hot dogs being cooked on the grill will cause most people to begin to reflect back on the fun times enjoyed during the summers that have past. It would also begin to build excitement as we think about the enjoyable times that summer holds in store for us. Family gathering, cookouts, and baseball games fill a lot of our relaxing summer afternoons and evenings.
However, for the last 21 years we at Haven of Rest have made it a point to take into consideration all the individuals and families that are not privileged enough to enjoy summers filled with such memories. That is why we have our annual Community Picnic to make sure the people of our community have the opportunity to enjoy such memories at no cost to them.
All those who attended were able to enjoy fresh grilled hot dogs, cotton candy, horse back riding, games, balloon animals, clowns, jugglers and much much more!
A heart- felt thank you to Cargill Salt for their generous donation that helped us provide this outreach to the community and it’s employees from the Akron Plant who volunteered their services during the picnic.
Mission Needs
Haven of Rest can always use donations of food, clothing, and many other items that must be kept on hand in order to care for the poor and homeless people who are seeking assistance. Listed below are some of the things we currently need.
If you would like to make a donation, please bring it to Haven of Rest’s donation drive-thru. The drive-thru is located at the rear of the Client Services Center, 207 E. Market St. Hours are 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Prayer Request If you have a prayer request, you can send it to prayer@havenofrest.org. We will include your request on our prayer list for the 1:00 p.m. prayer time each day. All requests are confidential. You may include a first name or initial if you wish. Once we receive your request, you will receive a reply letting you know we are praying for you.
