LOVE AND HOPE FOR MICHAEL

Michael grew up in a tough neighborhood where addiction to crack cocaine consumed his life. It wasn’t long before he was trapped in a cycle of drugs, shame, and homelessness. He tried to break free, going through treatment and detox programs multiple times, but nothing stuck. He was losing hope.

You gave Michael a new beginning

Everything changed when Michael walked through the doors of Haven of Rest Ministries. After being kicked out of where he was living, he had nowhere else to go. Thanks to donors like you, the Mission became his safe haven—offering him the chance to leave the past behind and focus on his future. At the Mission, Michael found time and space to pray and ask God for direction. “I realized I didn’t know how to make good decisions, and I needed help,” said Michael. With guidance from Haven of Rest mentors, Michael began to understand the importance of accountability and godliness.

Your support helped to transform Michael’s life

Because of your support, Michael found the strength to rebuild his life. Today, he celebrates 30 years of uninterrupted sobriety. He earned a bachelor’s and a master’s degree and now works as a high school assistant principal and preacher. Michael is also a homeowner, a feat he once thought impossible. “Haven of Rest is a place of rescue and transformation,” he said. “To give to this ministry is to give people the chance to change their lives.”
