Happy Thanksgiving!

Celebrating Thanksgiving Time
With the cooler days of fall, Haven of Rest is busy making sure it is a warm, festive time for our guests. While families and friends are getting together to share love and stories, at the Mission, we try to make it a home, away from home for the guests who come for our Thanksgiving meal. The Dining room team sets up a nice atmosphere with all the traditional fixings made for the dinner.
Currently, we have a turkey team who comes in periodically to cut turkeys and prepare them to be frozen ahead of time for the big Thanksgiving meal. Side dishes will include stuffing, green beans, mashed potatoes, gravy, rolls and butter, and a variety of pies. Jo Nell Muth, Foodservice Manager, expresses her many thanks for all the generous donations of food which will also provide for the Thanksgiving season meals. She says, “The Mission has been truly blessed during the pandemic. I am so thankful for each and every company and individual who has been so generous at this time.”
After the traditional dinner, personal care bags are given out to each of our guests. Jo Nell asks for prayer over the Foodservice staff and for continued strength to sort and work with all the donations. She also asks for God to send people to help the kitchen staff.
If you would like to donate much-needed canned fruits and vegetables, you can bring them to the Food Service Dock at 175 E. Market St., Akron, OH 44308.
